Hi,

It seems that everytime I go out in strong sun and forget to put sunscreen on, this happens to me, it starts out with being the swollen lip and swollen glands, this will happen about 2 to 3 days after the sun exposure. My lips get very dry and scaly and it takes 3 weeks before it heals 100%.

It used to be a very small area that I could hide with lipstick, now it is almost my whole lip, this thing pusses, bleeds, hurts like the devil. Right now this thing is coming back.

I just want to make sure this is not cancer, because I have searched the whole web to no avail of finding photos that look similar to the sore that I have, and it seems everytime I get sunburned on my face, this happens.

I don't want to go to a dermatologist unless I am a little sure about this, I don't want to go and they tell me that it is nothing.

I thought at first that it was a cold sore but people that I know that get cold sores told me that it wasn't a cold sore.

I have looked on the web for lip sores and nothing looks familiar to what I have but that doesn't mean anything.

I am a little lighter than olive colored skin I have dark hair, I am not even a pale skinned person at all. Skin cancer or anything like that doesn't run in my family either.

Hi twentyeightpaws,

I am very sorry about your health concerns. My approach to health issues is much different than yours. You are obviously already concerned enough to seek the advice of perfect strangers. In my book, that is reason enough to at least see a GP. It probably is not cancer but why increase the danger by waiting? Out of honest concern for your health I say, see your own doctor. Only someone with proper training and who can actually see and feel you can guide you beyond this point.

Keep use informed.
