Hi, hope this finds you all well. My mom was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma Stage IIIB NSCLC two weeks ago. Additionally she is battling Parvo virus, she got it from a baby about six months ago, and her knee and ankle joints are very painful. She has decided, for now, against chemo as the costs are too high and her insurance is very bad. I am going to relocate her to my neighborhood once we locate a place, shouldn't be tough in this market.
Thanks for listening. |

Welcome Mike to this forum;
I'm sorry to hear about your mom's diagnosis and the insurance problems. But I am very glad to hear that she has you to love and care for her, in that, she is very fortunate. There may be possibilities of getting cancer treatment covered, though I don't know for sure, possibly somebody else here may know. I think it is worth fighting if she is willing, but I know she is dealing with a lot of pain already. I'll be praying for you and your mom and we'll hope for the best.
God Bless

Mike, I am so sorry that your mother has to opt for no chemotherapy because of insurance issues. Has she told her medical team and asked for help? Sometimes doctors are able to get assistance from the drug companies.
Your mother might also qualify for Medicare. Since having cancer qualifies her for disability, she should also qualify for Medicare.
You and your mother are in my thoughts and prayers. _________________ Jim
