Hi everyone
I am new here and hoping someone can give me some advice.
About 5 weeks ago I burnt my back and shoulders quite badly, it took about 10 days to heal. It all went back to normal, except one area on my left shoulder. This inch squared area itches constantly and is very uncomfortable, I am having to keep my bra strap off my shoulder as it irritates the skin even more. I don't know what is going on, I haven't experienced anything like this before.
In the mirror I can see there are 4 small moles that I have never noticed before, with a couple of darkened patches of non mole skin. Though they could have been there before and I may just not have seen them. Ordinarily I have few moles.
Can anyone tell me if this is something bad? I suffered bad burns when I was 19 to my skin, from a sun bed. I had never been in one before and they sent me in for 16 mins, I was in hosp four hours later and very ill. They said my skin would be at risk from there on.
Thanks for your time
Tori

Tori, melanoma is still a relatively rare cancer compared to all of the other possible skin conditions ... but it does sound like it is time for you to pay a visit to a dermatologist who is board certified and has experience with skin cancer in general and melanoma in general....

I say this because you do have a history of burns -- one sufficient enough to land you in the hospital... and did you say you are fair complexion ?

I wouldn't freak out over this but I WOULD get into the habit of seeing a dermatologist on a regular basis.... Mel is nothing to mess around with or take chances with.... Far better to be safe than very very sorry if on the oft chance, it is something to be worried about....
