Hi, My wife is going to see her onc. soon and they want to do a chest xray, bone scan and abdominal ultrasound. Now I understand why they need the chest xray and the bone scan, but what are they looking for with the abdominal ultrasound?
Thanks. |

I'm no Dr. and I'm sure that Dr. Leo will have an accurate answer for you but I would imagine that the reason for the abdominal would be the same as for the others . They have to check for metastatic Cancer everywhere . They are just being thourough . Checking her uterous & ovaries . Be glad they are giving her a good once over ! - teresa |

Hi Riesesdad!
Sorry to meet you, if you know what I mean..... My wife had her ab. ultrasound today and tomorrow she has her bone scan. Both are to check if the cancer has travelled and landed anywhere else. Standard proceedure, I understand.
We will see the onc. next Wednesday to find out the treatment plan.
Blessings,
Pastor Rich |

Hi, When I was diagnosed they did all these tests to prior to starting treatment. It was to not only get an overall picture to see if anything had spread but also importantly to get a base line of what is "normal" for you. So that if one was to have any pains anywhere or problems they could see if there were any changes that needed to be addressed. It is very nerve racking having the tests and the waiting but it is also wonderful to hear that there are no other problems. Good luck to both of your wives!
HUGS!

Hi Riesdad!
Yes, the came back clear, though the ultrasound revealed one kidney was larger than the other. The onc. said it could be a lymph node causing some pressure variation but there was no indication of that.
So, Cathy has a CAT scan next week.
