Hi. My Dad has just had a Barium Swallow x-ray which has found a 4cm tumor in his oesophagus which doctors say is more than likely a cancer. He is having more tests this week but it has been very hard to take this news. I would really like it if anyone has any stories to tell that may help myself, my brothers and my Mum and Dad. I have a little baby girl who is almost 2 and I want my Dad to fight as she means the world to him. Please I would appreciate if anyone could help as we are all so scared.

Dear Mel,

Sorry to hear about you father. Esophageal cancer is indeed a difficult diagnosis, but there are definitely treatments for this. First, he will need to have a biopsy to establish the diagnosis, and then doctors can evaluate what options he has. Have faith that there are options for this and that the fact that you are with him will make him stronger to fight it.
