Hey, Ive already posted on this site before as i was conserned but im still conserned.. my throat has not seemed to stop bothering me.. maybe its because i keep on spitting and its hurting my throat to keep on brining up spit and clearing my throat and stuff. Anyways Iam 17 years old.. Started smoking about a month before i turned 16 so ive been smoking for a year and 4/5 months. At first i smoked nothing but once school hit in september i was addicted i smoked all the school year and have still been smoking, i go throught about a pack usually in 2-4 days. MY Main concern is this white slimey phlegm like substance i keep brining up, usually phlegm is green but im bringing up a white stinky substance everytime i try to spit. My throats been bugging me for well over a month now on and off, ear aches and now ontop of it my stomache has been aching for the last 3 days.. hurts to touch breathe deep etc, it isnt my lungs its my stomache, but then my throat is weird too.. I kno my chances of having cancer are very small but do u think i could have cancer? I really don't want my parents to know i smoke, or my doctor because he will tell them. I was looking at some site and this is what got me going crazy and made me come back here.. "Ongoing chest or throat problems - Coughing or hoarseness that lasts more than three weeks could be caused by lung cancer or one of the cancers of the head and neck, such as the voice box (larynx) or thyroid. " The seems to be me, i don't understand. If i have cancer i was meant to die and do you think its too late now? if i quit now could i heal? im so depressed about this you dont even understand, Please give me somekinda advice, if you need more info ill be willing to give it, just wow i devoted the hole last year and a half of my life to cigarettes and its disgusting, im so concerned about cancer. |

| You need to try everything you can to quit smoking and tell your parents. I wish I would have quit when I had only been smoking a year. I now am a 15+ year smoker and my father has lung cancer from smoking. You are very young to have cancer, so I would not be too worried about that but you still need to get checked out. There could be other things going on besides cancer. You are only going to drive yourself crazy wondering about what is going on and looking symptoms up on the internet. The bottom line is that your doctor needs to know what your syptoms are so he can order the correct tests because he is the ONLY one who can give you a definitive answer. Please try to find the strength to talk to your parents and physician. We will keep you in our prayers! |

I doubt very much that you have cancer, but you should check it out for sure. Go to a doctor, quit smoking (yes, it's that easy. Read "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking" for support) pick up a healthy hobby or learn to enjoy working out. Eat an apple every time you feel for a cigarette, or avoid thinking about smoking. Keep yourself occupied.
