Hi Annie, I finished dose dense chemo 5 weeks ago. 4 ac 4 taxol. I did fine thru entire treatment. Before I began treatment a friend of mine came over and gave me some Reiki to calm and center me. I found it amazing, I liked it so much that I took Reiki I and ReikiII classes during my chemo so I could do on myself everyday. Also took a yoga class the night before my treatment once a week and I juiced, just orange juice and carrot juice. I went skiing once, snowshoed few times, walked almost every day being outside made me feel better.(did not have same energy level I normally have but did fine) I also gave myself shots for 7 days after each treatment to keep my count up. I had a little bone soreness but it never lingered longer than a few hours. I believe mind over matter made a huge difference for me. If you get a chance read "you can heal your life"by louise hay. I just turned 50 and plan to live another 50! I am going to my 8th radiation treatment tomorrow. Trust me I was terrified when I began this adventure but then the anger at this terrible dis-ease took over. You will be fine, I thought of the chemo as a cleasing to my body. Hope this helps you Very Happy

My mother underwent 4 rounds of Taxol, and didn't have too many different symptoms from Adriamycin and Cytoxan. I think she was more tired. And the bone pain is probably from Neulasta...Mom had a lot of that.

Hello

My thought on this is that the culprit for bone pain is Neulasta. It is a drug that stimulates the bone marrow, which is contained in the flat bones (mostly). So that expansion might give you a lot of pain. I know people that are bone marrow donors receive these types of drugs and they sometimes get quite severe bone pain. Some do need strong narcotic medications. But this will subside.

regards,
Leo

Hi Ladies, and hello Leo, how nice to hear from all of you. Thank you for all your thoughts and suggestions for the relief if necessary of the Taxol.

I believe your correct Leo with the Neulasta. I have had my 2nd treatment now of Taxol and I am doing very very well. No bone pain at all. So it had to be the Neulasta shot that brought my numbers over 90.9 that caused the pain. Hmmm I sure won't let them do that again!!

Again thank you all for your responces. :)) Peace love and hugs :)) and keep on smiling!!!

Hi Annie, Just read your post and I am stage II about the same diagnosis as you mine was 2.5 clean margins clean nodes but a grade 3. I finished dose dense with a/c and the taxol and now I am on 3rd week of radiation. I had very few side affects some bone pain a few days after taxol treatment. I would get up and go outside for a walk, next day it would be fine and this along with the reiki, juicing, and yoga made me feel better. I had 8 doses of drugs total and that was enough for me but you have to trust your doctor and your gut. Read you can heal your life by louise hay. It is a great book. You will be fine. I am going in today to have a suspicious mole looked at 1 out of 8 but I am looking at it as good because I would never have had it cked if it wasnt that I have become so anal about everything since the bc. God Bless Susan

Hello Shelly. Hope all went well with your first taxol treatment, today. I had Taxotere, so I can't comment much on the Taxol. Just want to let you know that I am thinking about you and hope that all went well. Let us know. Blessings.

Good evening folks :),
Well # 3 on the Taxol was on Monday, ha, I haven't even slept yet! Seems to be like speed or something to me first 36-48 hrs. Anyone experience this? Ripped my sons room apart re-arranged furinture, even swept the basement floor LOL...I am loosing it for sure now. :)
I am however finally winding down, I hope. Memory is so shot too.
Maybe it can be the steriod they use prior to the taxol drip that is making me so hyper sensative...takes time to feel the routine of this new drug I suppose. Also some may know how accumulative this becomes if it is taken weekly. I read about the cell counts dropping and the fatigue, just haven t gotten to that yet. Maybe crash thurs fri sat.

Well any suggestions I always appreciate. You survivors are my strengths.
I hope you all are strong, taking charge of your lives and always find something wonderful to smile at. This is an encredible journey.

Hugs and Peace <3

Yeah, it's is the steroid. It affects a lot of people that way. I didn't have any issues with it, though. I slept fine, did not increase appetite, or anything. Glad everything went well.

Had my first Taxol treatment on Monday and everything went fine. No side effects whatsoever. It is so great compared to the AC. I don't know what I was expecting, but this has been ok...

They did give me decadron (which usually keeps me awake) and Benedryl (which usually puts me to sleep) in a drip before the Taxol. The benedryl won out and I felt like I'd had too much to drink for the rest of the day...then I slept like a baby. Good thing I didn't have to drive myself home!!

Glad everything went well for you. Don't be afraid if you feel extremely exhausted and achey, tomorrow. Usually "crash" days are on days three and four. Take something for your pain and rest as much as possible. Let us know how you are. Blessings.

Cindy, I agree that it is probably the steroids. I'm on TAC (the T is Taxotere) but I also get steriods before, during and after the treatments. I'm having trouble sleeping right now because I go in for chemo tomorrow. Wink

Women with early breast cancer who received the drug Taxol after standard chemotherapy did better than women treated with standard chemotherapy alone.Women treated with Taxol were 17 percent less likely to have a recurrence of breast cancer and 18 percent less likely to die than women not treated with Taxol, the researchers concluded.
