My daughter is 23 years of age. She has had stomach problems for the past 2 years. I will try not to make this so long and detailed.

symptoms: stomach pain on and off, nauseas on and off during the day, bowel mucus looking, can be diaherra, thin, constipated or normal. no vomitting. Stomach appears bloated always.

-Spams frequently in pelvic area, stomach area and rectum. Either of these three places it occurs.
-No energy at all. Fatigue. Dizzy when standing.
-Lymph nodes can swell on and off at neck or behind ear. A little tender but then goes away
-says she gets hot and sweaty at night
-feet feel as though they are burning from the inside out -- and itch
-- chest feels tight. feels as though she has fluid sometime -- hard to breat at times -- can't exercise due to it

CT scan of abd
circumferential wall thickending of distal terminal ileum
mildly prominent mesenteric lymph nodes in right lower quadrant of abd
1.3 x 2.2 cm lymph node in right lower quadrant mesentrery
few other scattered lymph nodes in same location but smaller in size
uterus is moderate heterogeneous
possible fundal fibroid

CT Enterograophy
hyerplastic lymph nodes involving the ileocolic region
right lower quadrant lymphadenopathy
intra-abdominal contents demonstrate nonspecific adenopathy involving the ileocolic portion of mesentery
terminal ileum consistent with inflammatory ilieitis

PillCam
Grade II esophagistis
multiple aphthous uldcers throughout
medium size submucosal nodule in mid to distal small bowel
mild lymphoid hyperplasia in distal small bowel
one small polyp in distal small bowel

Lab: I will just give a few
WBC and RBC almost low
Hemoglobin and Hemocritic -- Low
Monocytes -- Low
CPR inflammatory -- very high
ANA - negative
the two blood test checking for Crohn's came back negative

Okay, she is still having problems. They want to do laparscopic, but my gastro is taking her time calling me back. it took her five weeks to call me about saying results ofpillcam and blood work. Are these findings not important enough to get my daughter back home to confirm either lymphoma, crohn's, carcinod? I am not a doctor, but these findings appear serious enough to me to get to the bottom of it. Please give advice or your guidance of what you would do if this was your daughter.
thank you. someone please reply

And she has had this problem for 2 years???

I do not know if it is cancer or not. However, it does sound like her medical team needs to be more aggressive in identifying the cause or causes for her symptoms.

You and your daughter are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi kimreporter

The tests results don't look like Lymphoma, Looks more like Crohn's, but I'm not a doctor. Keep at the doctors until something gets done, if necessary make a pest of yourself . Don't worry too much, I know its hard because your daughter feels so bad , but you don't want to make yourself sick as well.

Good luck and thinking of you

She has had stomach problems for two years, just started looking into it in January of this year. Yes, she has had a colonoscopy and (scopy) where they looked into her throat down to esoph. Where the problem is arising appears to be in the mid to distal small bowel as stated above and also in the right lower quadrant of mesentry (abd). The gastro feels as though it has symptoms or some signs of crohn's; however, she does not believe it is crohn's due to the fact that my daughter has other symptoms not correlating exactly with crohn's. The hyperplasia lymph nodes in mesentry area and small distal bowel, along with the nodule and polyp in small bowel is what they are concerned about -- plus the very high CRP-inflammatory count on her blood work, as well as low hemocrate and hemoglobin. (sorry for my spellings). They will biopsy these areas and look around at the laparscopy. Just can't seem to find anyone that has ever had similiar findings and what was their outcome. Thanks again for any advice or guidance that anyone can give. THey are checking for lymphoma as well.

I would wait for this to work out, it is a very complicated clinical picture. There may be more than 1 thing wrong but it looks like the doctors are narrowing it down, have patience and don't fret too much. It took seven months for the doctors to realize I had Lymphoma and begin treatment from when I first had symptoms, and at the end of the day it didn't make that any difference to the treatment or outcome.
Thinking of you and yours

It took them over a year to find out that my father had Leukemia. In that time, the did all sorts of tests to find out why his white blood cell counts were astronomically high, including surgery to remove his spleen Rolling Eyes. Not all diseases can be easily diagnosed. Like ChemoMan said, it might even be several different things that are causing all of your daughter's symptoms.

By the way, I cannot imagine how difficult this has been on you. It would overwhelm me if one of my children where so sick and it took this long (or longer) to find out what was causing the problem.

You and your daughter continue in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks again for talking with me here. Surgery is Friday the 20th, the day before her 24th birthday. She is so ready to figure it out as well. At 24 (almost) she wants to continue having the energy and excitment that she should be. She is laying in bed all the time. She is continuing to finish school, but since January symptoms have become worse. She finally said in January she would do whatever it took to figure out what was going on. At first she would fight me on going to the doctor, but now she is cooperating and knows things have gotten worse. In fact, she said the other day, if it were cancer or some type of serious health issue, she could sooo handle it, she just is ready to get some answers and help. Thanks again. My gut feeling is some type of lyphoma or stomach/small bowel cancer or noncancer, but there is something. She called this morning and had the bad night sweats again last night. Hopefully soon we will know and I will keep y'all informed.

I need to correct something, SHE IS NOT LAYING IN BED ALL THE TIME. I was trying to say that she is not totally just laying around, she is going about her businss at school and has learned to live with the stomach on and off pain, the nausea on and off, the spams on and off in her pelvic and abd. and at times her rectum. Everything is pointing to her abd mesentry -- lower right quadrant and mid to distal small bowel. That is where they see the enlarged lymph nodes. in the mid to distal bowel is where the see a nodule, polyp and multiple apthous ulcers and enlarged lymph or something. If it was just the ulcers they were seeing, then crohn's is what they thought. because they see the nodule in submucosal and polyp and lymphs in small bowel as well, they don't think crohn's. Has anyone every had a very high CRP-quantative inflammatory number in their blood work? One more questions, can't inflammatory mean a chance of cancer as well? Yes, I know inflammatory can mean a lot of things, just curious if cancer is one of them.
