Hi,

Our 5 year old child is at the final stage of the treatment of T-ALL(protocol II/II in high risk).

Is there any way to know if the treatment was successful (like MRD)? or at the end of the treatment the weekly checkups will do?

If there is a way to check if the treatment was successful and it will find that it failed was is to do?

many thanks.

Hi father,

First, I am truly sorry about your son's diagnosis. It is so terrible to see a you child having to start life facing cancer. My father had ALL but he was in his late 70's early '80s at the time. It was hard on him. I can only imagine how hard this is on your son and you.

I do not know what an MRD is. No, just a weekly checkup without a periodic scan of some sort will not do... not if it were my son anyhow. You might give it a couple of weeks after the end of treatment since some forms of treatment continue to work for a while.

Finally, I moved this thread to the Childhood Cancer Forum so that you might get advice from other parents who have or are going through similar situations.

You and your son are in my thoughts and prayers.
