Can anyone here tell me WHY is it taking so long???
For pathology to come back?
All my family keeps saying is ..
"If it was anything to worry about they would of DEFINITELY called you by now."
((sigh)) Do you think that?
It has been 14 days today. |

Well, since you are posting this question on the Uterine and endometrial cancer forum I assume that is the pathology report you are waiting for. However, I can only give you a general answer. How long it takes really depends on the number and type of stains the oncologist has requested. It also depends on where your oncologist is... smaller hospitals are not able to run some tests locally and need to send the samples to outside labs for testing.
I know that it is hard to wait. I waited for a week before calling but it took several more weeks before the doctor received the report; he requested a genetics test that had to be done at an outside lab. _________________ Jim

I guess even though I am trying to be positive..I have a teeny cloud of doom over my head..
My maternal grandmother and my moms only sister both were dignosed at my very age....
So I guess all the questions are just my way of working through the fear that is there.
I tend to have to talk things out...even though my LOGICAL mind says...((you'll be Ok))
I do appreciate your responses. |

If I were in your shoes, I would be concerned too . Waiting is the hardest thing for anyone to have to do. When my cancer recurred in June 2005, it took my team of doctors until November to decide on what to do. Those months seemed like years... especially since I suspected that it was a more aggressive form than the original one (I was right, by the way).
Do you have anything to do that will help take your mind off of the cancer or at least to refocus your thoughts on something positive? I like to hike. That does not always take my mind off of my problems but it does give me a very positive environment in which to think . _________________ Jim

kseek,
First of all sorry i haven't replied earlier ( I've been away).
secondly- ring. Ask why it's taking so long. Your worried and want to know what is going on- Though it can be quite normal for a long wait. At least we know there are being through- Hope. All they might say is it's still there, or hasn't been done yet, or even that it is done- but has been sitting there waiting for DR, or you to call...could be a little mess up- who knows. But worrying about it will make it worse. So get on the phone and hound them - works for me- and i'm a peep squeak and never say boo- at the best of times. Your body, your life- they are used to it.
Thinking of you- let us know what happens. Fingers crossed. _________________ Thinking of you Inica

I just got results...and it looks as though I am good,
The utering scraping or whatever they call it, did the job so far.
I go on the 13th to figure out what to do with the growing focal adenomyoma? But after hearing all clear for (C) I am not even worried about that : ) I think from what I understand, if I choose to keep my uterus, I will need to take some hormones...so that it does not continue to grow and cause problems...the only other solution (get it out). I am not sure I am ready for that.
I appreciate your replies and kind words....and putting up with my frenzied self.
Thank you. |

Yaaaay at least some great news- Congratulations!
As long as you are happy with the diagnoises and the results, then that's all that matters. I'm so happy for you. Make sure even though things at the moment look clear, All appointments and check ups. It's easy to forget or put off, since you feel so good/happy.
