From what I've been reading, stage 2 is basically still localized and stage three is when it moves into your LNs.

My question would be - supposed your LNs are clean... and they remove the mole and surrounding tissue... Is there any reason there would still be a chance of anything spreading??

I guess my question is if they remove everything from the 'skin' is there anything left just floating around thru your system??

My friend has chondrosarchoma and while they cut out the tumors, more still grow... so the cancer is still in his system..

Is it the same with melanoma, or is it more that as long as they remove it all, then that's pretty much it? (Except if you have other moles that turn into melanoma)

You will be at a higher risk for recurrance, just keep up with body checks and you skin doctor. Anything that concerns you have checked.

They have no blood markers to show if its in your system, they are working on a test but its not approved yet. I am also stage 2. Mine was alot thicker then yours and it was on my arm between the elbow and shoulder. Head and neck are the worst place to have them from what I have read.

Take all the recautions available to you, sun screen, long sleeve shirts wear a hat when outside. Try not to work outside between the hours of 10-4. Read everything you can about it is your best protection.

I totally agree with Jim (Jotto). You are at a higher risk than the average person. You are also at a higher risk of it metastasizing... even with negative lymph nodes. Do is Jim suggested and keep up with your skin care.

Best wishes.
