My friend has non-hodgkin's lymphoma stage 4. It is in her bone morrow.
She is 60 years old with a history of lupus, which is now in remission.
She was first diagnosed a year and a half ago with a lump in her neck whcih they successfully treated with radiation. She just finished a four week treatment of the new drug rutuxon (maybe misspelled). Can anyone give me more information about this and especially about the stage 4? She did tell me it was supposed to be slow growing. I would appreciate any information.

NHL is not a single disease but a group of diseases. Low grade NHL are slow growing, but not easy to cure. High grade NHL are usually fast growing, but responsive to chemotherapy. The behavior of different pathologies is very different, so one must understand the exact diagnosis first before talking about prognosis.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

She has just finished a four week treatment (one a week for four weeks) and now will have a MRI in a couple of weeks and meet with her cancer doctor. The doctor said she would probably have to have another round of treatment. I guess they won't know until they see the MRI.
The doctor said that they had been having good luck with this new drug
(rutuxon) not sure of spelling, but it is in her bone morrow and that is what concerns me the most. Thanks for your prayers.

Mbk

The drug you mentioned is called Rituxan (rituximab), and is a new generation of medications that use antibodies to treat the disease. It has shown to be a very good drug so far.

best of luck
