Why does my mom complain about stomach pain, nausea, and lower back pain without any visible tumors?

How does the disease make one sick like that without seeing a growth?

She had been complaining (and hiding) these symptoms for 5 months, obviously since tumor activity began this year, but I would have thought one could see a tumor.

The pain and nausea is getting worse, but no sign of a tumor yet.

Very confusing...

Question I am confused Rolling Eyes I thought your mother had diagnosed Pancreatic cancer and even has had a Whipple done. Is this right? Pancreatic Cancer can cause all sorts of symptoms, even when it is not growing or has been removed. The Pancreas produces vital hormones and enzymes use in digestion, blood sugar control, and many other functions. That is one of the reasons that Pancreatic Cancer is such a horrible cancer Sad.

My best wishes.

Yes, she was diagnosed two years ago and had whipple and recovered and had chemo and radiation and recovered.

There were no signs of tumor activity for a year or more.

Now there is the recurrence detected by tumor markers and liver enzymes.

Her CT scans show no tumors, but her stomach and back pain has been increasing steadily without being able to see the actual tumors.

I was wondering how the cancer can cause that pain when you can't even see a tumor yet.
