Hello,
in 2002, a rectal cancer was diagnosed. Too low location to avoid permanent colostomy, according 2 different French surgeons (I live in Paris), specialized in gastro-enterology and oncology...
We didn't accept that solution, and search for days on the Internet, hoping to find specialists for another way...
England has an excellency center for those pathology, in Basingstoke (between London and Southampton) : the Pelikan centre, founded by Pr Heald. He is a reference in colon and rectal cancer surgery.
In France, we had no chance to avoid permanent colostomy; with him : more than 50%.
His French correspondant in Paris is in St Antoine Hospital, we knew that from himself. In France, noone lead us to his latter, may be a "concurrence" between doctors ? or only the sincerity to do their best with such a perineal amputation (because of secondary risk, and the tumour location etc )?
However, the surgery in Basingstoke was a success, it was our last solution.
By searching on Google with those key words, you can find and understand more about what they do, and scientific articles.
For those living in Europe, it may be an easy way to get a second opinion.
He doesn't promise miracle, just does his job, but at its top.
All my best _________________ cake |
