If you are looking for an exceptional surgeon to remove your prostate and achieve much better than typical results consider Ashutosh Tewari, MD
New York Presbyterian Hospital
525 East 68th Street Room Starr-900
New York, NY 10065
2127465643
I'm going to have Dr Tewari perform my surgery in August, 2008. After researching prostate removal options and physicians I think Dr Tewari is probably one of the best in the country. The statistics posted on his website for cancer cure, regaining continence and sexual function are almost too good to be true. I've talked to four of his past patients and all confirm they thought going to him was well worth the cost and effort. All reported excellent results. Some said they had no incontinence, and all reported a return of sexual function. One said he had sex 3 weeks after surgery. Of the four people I spoke with the longest it took any of them to regain total bladder control was one month. Compared to other patients I've spoken to that had open surgery this is fabulous. Many open procedure patients struggle with both problems for a year or two.

All four patients said they were really treated well by Dr Tewari, his staff and the hospital. They couldn't say enough about how pleased they were. Dr. Tewari is very responsive and available to talk to you by phone.

I can't post the url for his web site yet since I'm new to this forum, but you can search for it by searching for the Cornell University and Dr. Tewari.

Search for "Tewari" in the prostate cancer forum for other posts on this surgeon.

Best of luck with your fight against prostate cancer.

Mark,
That's fantastic news! My husband Dave had his Robotic Surgery performed one week ago today and I am totally amazed at this recovery so far. His biggest complaint was a BM that took 5 days to arrive. His scars are becoming non-existent. He has no incotinence issues since the cathetar was removed 2 days ago. and is doing his kegel exercises daily. It truly blows my mind. He was up and walking the same day of surgery! We took many walks that day and throughout the evening to help him pass gas and he was also antsy laying around in bed. His surgeon was Dr. Vipul Patel at Celebration Health in Orlando and we consider him a gifted surgeon. I am sure there are many other gifted surgeons which is the reason I feel this board is so vital to men and their families who are dealing with PC treatment. As I told my husband once surgery was over we need to continue to help others with our experience. This disease effects not only men but their families as well....I said it before and I need to say it again I wish I had the support of this board when we first found out Dave had PC. Best of luck to all and do not hesitate to email me with any questions or words of encouragement.

Mark,
I have scheduled my surgery with Tewari at the end of July. My local docs are very good but I want every advantage I can reasonably get. There are a few gurus arond the states and I believe Tewari is one of them. Dr. menon in Detroit was another choice. If I was in Florida or California I might make a different choice.
