Hi,
I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer on Thursday, June 5th. He was a wonderful man. He was 63 and had retired a year before his diagnosis, but unfortunately he didn't get to enjoy his retirement the way he should have. I've read through a lot of the posts and I can relate to so many of you. My Dad had symptoms way before he was diagnosed and by the time they figured out it was pancreatic cancer, it had already spread to his liver and spine. I know how hard this is, so if any of you are going through this and just need someone to talk to, please reply. Or if you have any questions I might be able to answer, please feel free to ask. Take care all of you!

Sorry about the passing of your father, I entered this forum searching for what are the symptoms and what to expect as I am doing some research because my dad has a cancer that could spread to the pancreas.
Sending you my deepest condolences...My dad is such a wonderful man as well and I can so relate to what you went thru...
Take care |

Thanks for your responses. I am doing ok. I have a big family and good friends, so I do have a lot of support. I am comforted by knowing my Dad is in a much better place and is no longer suffering. He went through so much and it was really painful to watch him deteriorate day by day. I now plan to get very involved in fundraising efforts for cancer research. I want to try to make something positive out of this experience. I don't want to continue to see more people going through what my Dad went through.
Karolynca - I'm sorry about your Dad. I hope he is doing ok. I assume he doesn't have pancreatic cancer based on what you said, but if he does, please let me know if I can answer any of your questions.
Take care,
Angela |

Angela,
I am so sorry about your father. I lost my mom on June 5th to pancreatic cancer. I am glad to hear that you are doing ok. Now that the shock has worn off and reality has set in I have had a few bad days.
I had to respond since June 5 is an important date for both of us.

Hi J,
I am so sorry to hear about your mother also. Yes, that is an important date for both of us. Even though I am doing ok, I've certainly had my moments when I've broken down in tears. And sometimes I ask myself whether this all really happened...because it doesn't always feel real. My Dad was really healthy before he was diagnosed, so it's hard to believe he deteriorated so quickly in a period of 6 months. Please continue to message me if you need to talk to someone who knows exactly how this feels. You will be in my thoughts.

Hello,
I'm sorry to hear of your Father's passing. I too lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer in January, and like your father, it only took 6 months as well.
All I can say is that each day will get a little better. Some days will be really bad, but on the whole life will return to normal.
Unfortunately we are still dealing with the aftermath of my Dad's death, which means my family still doesn't have full closure.
Just remember to talk to family and friends and not to let things get on top of you.
Please accept my condolences,
Regards,

Angela77,
I am so sorry about your loss. I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer on March 30, 2008. I am still having a hard time dealing with the fact that he is gone. However, I know that his pain and suffering is over. He is up in Heaven with our Lord Jesus and he is looking down on us. My Dad was 88 and he lived a full wonderful life before he got sick. I have a lot of wonderful memories and I know I will see him again someday.
I hope you are doing okay. Lean on your friends and family to help you get through this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
