The doctors gave my sister a few weeks to live when she asked to be told everything about her oesophageal cancer. They said a few weeks and were very sure about it. They have given her the opportunity of starting a chemo course but did advise against it. She has tumours on both kidneys 1 on her liver and in her lymph glands. She is extremely thin and the tumour wasnt diagnosed until really late in the day! She is great and is preparing herself and her son for whats to come. She s done the solicitor thing and planned her natural funeral (tree planting etc) She doesnt want to die but we are 3 weeks in since diagnosis now she is sickly and nauseous all the time and under 6 stone in weight. How close are we to losing her, I really need to know for her son and everyone else. Someone whose been there could really help me.
Thanks xx

Dear Icemaiden

I am sorry to read about your Sister's advanced cancer & the pain you are feeling for her.

I will keep you all in my prayers & thoughts. I know you will make the most of what time she has left & make each day count. Your sister sounds as though she has prepared well for this?

Unfortunately, I cannot offer any insight into the timeline your Sis has been given. No-one really knows for sure.

May God Bless you all,

Cheers, Angie.

thanks angie for your very kind words, today she is a very yellow colour although she feels well....she says anyway. she has a driver box to stop nausea and morphine patches every day but her sodium is now 28 so shes not feeling great. My brother in law says they told her she had weeks and wouldnt recommend the chemo, the doc said he wouldnt have it if it was him. I think she just wants to do this so her son can see shes fighting and hasnt given in. We dont think she will make the july christening of her great niece which she was going to be godmother to which is why we needed a better idea of time, we can bring it back to middle july if we need to as we all want her there.
Its so sad sometimes im so angry even at her as if its her fault she has it, then i feel so guilty cos its not her fault.
Take care Angie love and good wishes.

Dear Icemaiden

I know exactly how you're feeling, swinging emotions from anger to pity! I'm sure these emotions are normal & common for the family members & carers.

I have had these times with my Bro...I'm frustrated that he never got a 2nd opinion, I'm frustrated that he won't see a neuro oncologist because he had one bad experience, I'm angry he won't ask the "hard questions" of his neuro surgeon. I'm angry because I feel he can do more to enhance his treatment.

My Bro says he's like this because his brain/mind can't handle too much information, then I feel sad. Sad for him because he is suffering this dreadful brain tumour. Sad because he's lost motivation.....sad because he's been left in a wheelchair from brain surgery last year. The whole damm thing SUX!!

You are in my prayers & thoughts.

Cheers, Angie.

God will decide when to bring her home. My husband's aunt just passed away last week from this same thing. She fought for three years, but unfortunately, the cancer won. Her last visit they told her two weeks and it was almost to the day. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but when the jaundice sets in that means the liver is failing and it probably will not be much longer. Just be there with her! Do whatever you can to comfort her and let her know that she has a whole new circle of friends here that are praying for her and your family!!
