I have a non-cancerous pituitary tumor that needs to be removed. I was referred to two, highly-qualified surgeons, one at Baylor College of Medicine and one at MD Anderson in Houston. The consultation visit that I had
with the doctor at MD Anderson was Horrible! I really liked the doctor, who was very nice and informative, but everyone else that I encountered was
rude and seemed very disorganized and unprofessional, ie. the registration person, the receptionist, the nurse and the lab personnel. I was actually put
into an exam room, and after over an hour wait discovered that oops! I had
been 'forgotten'! The waits for each step of the process - registration, seeing the doctor and lab work - were around 2 hours each. All together, I was
there 7 hours to see the doctor and have some blood drawn!! The doctor at MD Anderson has more experience than the doctor at Baylor, but if my visit
there is any indication of what my experience as a patient will be like at
MD Anderson, I may have to pass and go with the less experienced but still qualified surgeon at Baylor, which has by far a more professional atmosphere. Please share your experiences at MD Anderson. Is it always like this or was I there on a bad day?

Hi Jannica, I have a referral to MD A at Houston and appt. for the 16th so read your post with interest. I live in Austin and really wish there was an orthopedic tumor Dr. closer to Austin. I have not lived in Tx very long and very surprised not to be able to get work up here since Austin is so large.
I'll post again after I go there, but maybe meantime someone else can give us the benefit of their experience. I did think the info I got on the initial evaluation of patients seemed it was a lengthy and complicated process for someone not well. Baylor sounds interesting, will check it out as to location ect. I have a tumor on the socket of my left hip and had an MRI which revealed location and type . Metastes from breast cancer seems to be the impression the orthopedic Dr. and hospital Dr. have from that ...thus the referral to MD Anderson as there is no ortho tumor MD here. Good luck and blessings , Rita

Rita,

The tumor that I have is not believed to be cancer. I think if it were, I would
go to MD Anderson. Everyone I have talked to so far that have been patients at MD Anderson have had good things to say. Hopefully, I was just there on
a bad day. Let me know how you day goes and good luck!

Hi, I am Jes and new to these forums...but I couldnt help but post...My husband has lung cancer stage 4 and we are also at MD Anderson for treatment...We have been here almost a month. While your doctors are a bit slow and you have to wait like any other doctors office...Most all the tests are on time...Our CT and Pet Scans, blood tests were all with in minutes of appointment times...The nurses, technicians are all great..MD Anderson is a huge hospital seeing thousands fo patients daily..It is very organized and worth every penny it has cost us to stay in Houston for treatment...US News and World Report has MD Anderson rated #1 in the nation!!!
