Hi,

I had an RRP on April 29th and since then have not been able to sit for more than 5 minutes without lots of pain in my surgical bed. It feels like I'm sitting on a softball sized rock. Upon standing or lying down this pain goes away. CT shows surgical bed looks fine.

Has anyone else experienced this? My urologist is stymied...

My primary care doc thinks the problem is growing scar tissue within the surgical bed. My urologist says scar tissue cannot be removed from a RP surgical bed without causing permanent incontinence. He also expressed concerns about a serious, repeating anastamosta stricture as adhesions grow back.

I am reduced to lying on my right side, taking pain killers and only rising to go to the bathroom. If this is irreversible my life is pretty much over. If anyone knows of someone/someplace where help may be available please post to me. I'm losing my whole life...

Gary, I am so sorry about the pain you are having. I have never had Prostate Cancer so have never experienced the pain you are having. I know that scar tissue pain is common in a lot of abdominal pain. Unfortunately, I do not know how they usually treat it.

Best wishes.

Hi Jim,

Abdominal pain is definitely there too. I'm going to Dartmouth Hitchcock for a second opinion on possible treatments. I'll definitely post back here. I pray that that can do something about it...
