Multicentric hepatocellular carcinoma (Grade II)

Hi ,
This is kandasamy from Coimbatore Tamil nadu India.
my father has been diagonsied with liver cancer (Consistent with multicentric hepatocellular carcinoma (Grade II) (Edemondson and steiner system) )doctor told us that it is in advanced stage. Doctor told us that there is no treatment as well as any drugs avaiable in India for this type of cancer.

THis is my father Microscopy report

MICROSCOPY: Shows liver tissue infiltrated a multifocal tumor composed of medium sized polygonal cells (hepatoid) with moderate amounts of cytoplasm and hyperchromatic to vesicular nuclei some of which have conspicuous nucleoli. The neoplastic cells are arranged in trabeculae and focally in ps~udoglanduiar pattern. The neoplastic cells display moderate pleomorphism and increased mitotic activity. Some of the neoplastic cells show intranuclear pseudoinclusions. Adjacent and in~ervening liver tissue shows focal ballooning degeneration with no. evidence of cirrhosis. The aC.iacent hepatocytes show focal intracellular biliary stasis.

IMPRESSION:

Consistent with multicentric hepatocellular carcinoma (Grade II) (Edemondson and steiner system)

Please help me to save my father life...

Hi Kandasamy, I am terribly sorry about your father's liver cancer. All that medical lingo in the pathology repost does is describe the characteristics of a multicentric hepatocellular cancer Grade II. There are two ways that a hepatocellular cancer can be a grade II. The first way is that is one tumor but that it involves arteries or veins in the liver. The other way is for there to be many, smallish tumor but no blood vessels are involved. Your father false into this last group (multicentric).

I am not sure why the doctors there seem to be giving up on him. Prognosis does depend on the overall health and liver function. However, assuming that he is in otherwise good health and that his liver is still working satisfactorily, he would have many options in the US... including radio frequency ablation, chemotherapy, and/or radiation therapy.

Thanks for your reply.
We are from India. I don't know why dr here saying that there is no medicine and treatment.Right now my father is well healthy and he has no pains. Only problem is not feeling hungry and he not not able to take good amount of food.
From the internet I am able to find out drug with name sorafenib and consult the Doctor about this drug.
I would like to know, What are the side effect of having this drug
and I want to know if my father takes this medicine whether it will cure 100%.
I heard that in India the dug is very costly . If I am having the prescription is possible to get the drug from USA and also I want to know what is the cost of medicine in USA.

kandasamy, I am sorry but there is no treatment that will provide 100% cure. Liver cancer is most often fatal. The last statistics that I saw gave the overall 5 year survival rate for a Grade II liver cancer at 19%. This study was based on patients in the US and not worldwide. I imagine that it is even lower worldwide.

Without treatment, I am not sure how long he will survive. Do you have any way to get treatment outside of India? Australia has wonderful cancer centers.

Hi,
I am in UK london and my parents are in India. How is the treatment and other facilities avaiable in london for liver cancer.
Yesterday my father had a consulation and they prescribed Nexavar drug. It seems that is very costly medicine in India, Is there is any alternate medicine or is there is any homeopathy treatment for liver cancer.
