My Dad was admitted to hospital 4 weeks ago, has had a CT scan showing a mass on the Pancreas, a MRI showing lesions on the Pancreas and Liver, and a Liver Biopsy. He is not jaundiced, he is in a lot of pain, has lost 26 pounds in 6 weeks, has a very high white blood cell count (41).

Every thing in the hospital regarding tests and whatnot seems to be moving so slowly, isn't time of the essence? How can they sit around doing nothing while whatever it is inside him grows and his pain keeps getting worse? We are afraid it is Pancreatic Cancer, but no one is telling us anything. They aren't even giving us anything to hope for, just the same old, still waiting on tests. The doctor wont even a what if. We are all getting so frustrated with not knowing.

Has anyone else seens symptoms like this? Especially the white blood cell count, they can't find any infection and he has no fever.

Tam, I am very sorry about your father's health problems. Sometimes it does really feel like the system is in slow motion. Is time of an essence? Yes and No. Certainly, getting started reasonably soon is important but if it has already spread to his liver, rushing to start treatment before having a firm diagnosis might cause more harm that good. Have they said anything about a biopsy of his pancreas?

You and your father are in my thoughts and prayers.
