My dad was diagnosed with inoperable oesophageal cancer last September, after 6 gruelling months of chemotherapy his tumour was far worse and he now has lung and liver secondaries. I do not know what to say to him or my sisters, I am a nurse and they all look to me for answers, and I don`t have any, i feel so alone and useless. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Mad Sad

Hi suerh

I am sorry to hear about your Father. Please don't feel bad about your feelings they are totally natural. Yes you are a nurse but you are also your Fathers Daughter and the pain and uncertainty you feel cannot be overcome by any amount of training or experience. Tell your family this if you have to. We all feel useless when touched by personal tragedy of this magnitude, after all we are human.

Be kind on yourself during this time and spend as much quality time as you can with Dad. Take this as an opportunity to show your father how much you love him, it will help him and you during this ordeal.

very much thinking of you and your Father and good luck on your journey

suerh, I am also very sorry to hear about your father. I think that what he and your sister most need is your love and hugs. {{{suerh}}}
