My dad was diagnosed with PC in December. It was Stage II. He had the whipple procedure done in Feb. which removed the entire tumor. He started chemo in April, then a did a round of radiation with chemo. They gave him the month of July off so his body could heal some. He was supposed to have IV chemo as well as chemo in pill form for the next four weeks a week off then another 4 weeks. He made it through 2 weeks of this treatment and the Dr stopped it this week. His white blood cell count was low and he lost 10 pounds in a weeks time. What are his chances now that they have stopped treatment. Is this normal?

Kitty, it sounds like the stopped treatment because his blood count got too low for further treatment at this time. If that is indeed the case, it is normal. It is also normal for the oncologist to resume treatment when the patient's blood count returns to normal or to change the chemotherapy. In any case, continue to press his medical team to be as aggressive as possible in treatment of your father.

You and your father are in my thoughts and prayers.
