To the two who shared the end of life stories,
Thank you! I know it can vary from person to person. We are starting this with my dad. My dad talks about dying a lot. I am being a little selfish as I am not ready for him to go yet. He's doing OK. I will do a separate update on him.

Dad's not involved in hospice yet... He has palliative care and I can't say enough good things about our palliative care team! I can call anytime day or night if need be. If anyone needs recommendations for palliatve care or hospice here in Kansas City, please don't hesitate to ask me.

Kristi

HI Cathy
Mum is still on steroids, they have reduced them to every other day on the day after she has not had one she sleeps most of the day.
On the other day she seems full of it, chatting a lot and eating well, however she seems to be getting forgetful and I have to keep on repeating myself over and over, also she seems to laugh a lot which is out of character for mum as she never really did laugh a lot.
Could this be the steroids or the fact that they think its gone to her brain.
Its very hard looking after her 24/7, but carers come in the mornings.
Hospice nurse twice a week.
She is not in pain but I notice her voice is becoming a boi hoarse.

Love Lily. Crying or Very sad

To all,

Wow, it really amazes me how everyone's story is so different, yet we are all connected by cancer and death. It brings comfort to know that the people left behind feel the same... and have the strength to move on, and start their lives again.

It has been just on 1 month since my MIL's death. My FIL is finally moving home to the state where he lives. We have had them stay since January of this year, not to mention trying to organise and hold a wedding in June of this year, it has been tough.

FIL did it tough for father's day (Sep 7) this year, very emotional. He knows he has to return home, but I think deep down he is scared of how he will handle it emotionally, especially when is family is far away. One thing I know now, is that the Cancer cloud has lifted, we can finally move on with our lives. My husband and I have been married just over 3 months, and we have had anything but a typical first few months of married life.

it is getting easier though!! Each day is that tiny bit easier.

Hope you're doing OK Lily! And Kristi - best wishes for your father. Sometimes I wished my MIL talked about death more... I never knew if she was truely ready/accepting... but I guess, who really is?!?!

xxx
