Mom's back has been hurting real bad for the past few days. She is so tired. I'm very worried about her.

I've taken off a lot of work to spend time with mom. It has been awesome to spend time with her, and be able to be there for her if she needs me. I live closest to her (about 5 mins. down the road). My bills started to suffer a bit, so I came back to work this week. I'm only working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Its been hard this week not being able to just go over and hang out with her and help her with things. I take mom to chemo, which is usually on Thursdays.I'm taking mom to chemo tomorrow. She is scheduled for a CT scan next Thursday(Sept 4th). Pray, pray, pray for good news from the CT!! I just wish she wasn't so tired all the time. I love her so much!!
I can remember so many little things that we did together when i was a kid. She taught me to dip my McDondald's fries in my chocolate shake!! YUM!! We used to go to this burger place in Lexington called the Burger Broil!! That was always a treat!! There was a guy there that looked like George Michael (that was way back when he was with Wham). I was in love!! So mom told him about my crush. We ordered chocolate malted milkshakes (they were the best)!! He brought me mine and gave me a kiss on the cheek!! I melted!! Too many memeories to post now!!
Please pray that the CT scan next week brings good news!!

Just talked to mom on my break. She slept for 11 hours last night!! She got up and drank some coffee and is feeling much better today!! So, so, so glad!!

| reading your post brought back so many memories, my dad passed away from pancreatic cancer on 27th of june this year. he was diagnosed in oct last year, had chemo for 2 months with no results. my full story is in my post - my wonderful dad passed away- it is so hard to deal with, i also have 2 small children aged 4 and 17 months i think they are the only reasons i have kept it together. My dad went down hill very quickly, i was with him at the end and even though i am glad i was there it isn't how i want to remember him. My thoughts are with you and your mum. all you can do is be there for her and make her as comfortable as possible, and make sure she tells you when she is in pain and not to let it get out of control, taking pain meds isn't giving in. my dad suffered very badly so anything to avoid that is good. once again i am thinking of you. |

Mom is jaundice again. I noticed it Sunday. Her eyes are pretty yellow. We think maybe the stint they put in her bile duct came out. She is having a CT tomorrow, so the Dr.'s will be able to see if the stint is still in place or not. She is still having a lot of pain in her back and she is so tired. Sometimes she can barely keep her eyes open. I love her so much and can't stand to see her in so much pain. She tries to avoid taking her breakthru pain meds. I try to convince her that she has them for a reason and should take them before the pain gets too bad.
I had a rough night last night. I was just overwhelmed with emotions. I'm better today. It feels like a neverending not fun rollercoaster ride that you want to get off of and can't.
We did have a good holiday weekend though!! We grilled out at mom's on Sunday and watched the UK/ U of L football game!! Go UK!!

We are still waiting for results. We see the Dr. before mom's chemo next Thursday (9/11/0 and will get results then. They did give us a disc with the images, but I have no clue what I'm looking at. Thank you for asking, and I'll update here when we get results.
Also, has anyone heard about high doses of Vitamin C infusion helping pancreatic patients? They had a local news story about it.

Thank you, Brainman. I was able to get some info from that forum. We are going to discuss it with her Dr. on Thursday. That's when we get results from the CT and chest Xray. Is there no hope for advanced pancreatic cancer? I haven't heard anyone that has beat it.

GOT RESULTS!!! CT SHOWED NO CHANGE!! Good news!! Means no new growth. Dr. was pleased and said the chemo is doing its job. We did high fives. Mom couldn't take chemo though yest. She had a fever of 101.4. We think it might be a sinus infection. Aslo her platlets were way low. Nurse said they need to be at least 100,000 to take chemo, and mom's were 57,000. No change on CT is gooooood news!! Dr. put her on antibiotic and is going to start her on Tarceva (chemo pill) after she's over the infection.

Mom called me yesterday morning and asked me to stop by and take a look at her. Her eyes are extremely yellow and skin is almost orange. She called they doctor and they told her to come in immediately. We got there and they took one look at her and admitted her to the hospital. She is dehydrated too. They are doing an ERCP today. They think the stint in her bile duct is blocked, came out, or moved. Hopefully all will go well and she will feel better soon.
