|
|
Mom always liked our home made milk shakes.
She hasn't been eating well at all the last few days. She didn't want to drink her Ensure either. Mom is 95.
So tonight, when she wanted a milk shake, I put her chocolate Ensure in it! Worked great.
I put ice cream in a blender and usually put milk in with it for the milk shake. For hers, instead of milk, I put the Ensure. She gets her nutrients, and her milks shake, so she was happy! |

Here is my recipe:
1 Can of cold (almost frozen) Ensure or similar product
1 Cup of whole milk
2 Cup of ice cream (flavor is patients choice)
1 Cup of fruit that goes well with the ice cream
High protein powder like muscle builders use (follow label directions)
A hand full of ice cubes
Put everything put the ice cream in a blender and blend until almost all of the ice is well bended. Then add the ice cream.
Serve at once. Enjoy I know my father did.
This is not a recipe for otherwise healthy people because it is overloaded with fats, sugars, and proteins. However, for a sick person who is loosing muscles and body fat, it could make a big difference. _________________ Jim

ensure has artificial stuff in it. artificial flavor is acidic. ice cream is bad for anybody and whatever else wow no I would go for yogurt with frozen fruit and almonds make a natural smoothie. The goal is not to fatten you up but to stay away from junk that will screw your immune system up ... cheers _________________ 10 year tc survivor

It may have - but it saved my life.
