Hello, all!
My brother was diagnosed with PNET,(medulloblastoma). The symptoms began with double vision 3 years ago and continued into balance problems, but it took until Feb of this year for a biopsy and diagnosis. He underwent a complete course in radiation. Now he is into chemotherapy--he has had 2 cycles--the first a 3-day one and the next a 1 day session.
He has become very weak and has a low blood count. I am told that these are side effects expected after chemo.
However, I have spoken to a few patients now undergoing chemo--They say that the first few days immediately after their therapy, they suffer all he side effects like nausea and loss of appetite and so on; but these sensations disappear in the last week, during which period they recover some strength.
My brother has become weaker in the 3rd weak.

Some suggestions for quick improvement of red blood cells and haemo will be gratefully received.

Also, will he regain normal vision? and normal security in the erect position?

Hi lilaiyer. I am very sorry about your brother's cancer. I know we have other members who have the same type of cancer and hopefully one of them will reply to you with more personal experience.

I too had a primary brain cancer but mine was a glioma. What kind of chemotherapy is your brother taking? I was on PCV for 13 cycles (six weeks each). My blood cell counts gradually got worse and I became weaker and weaker but only really felt sick 1-2 days each cycle. I did get pneumonia a couple of times but not too bad. I only fully recovered a month or 2 after my last chemo cycle.

Make sure your brother is getting good nutrition with maybe a multi-vitamin that also contains Iron to help with his blood count and weakness.

You and your brother are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for the comforting response. The tumor is a pineal tumor. And perhaps it is faulty nutrition that has kept him weak---He was given a few bottles of dextrose and found fit for the third cycle of chemo. i have to get the info regarding his drugs.--lilaiyer
