Hi! I am new to this forum, but hope that someone out there can help me in my search for answers. My mom, age 59, underwent total hysterectomy for uterine cancer 6/04. She had negative lymph nodes, but did have positive abdominal washes. She underwent chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatinol and did very well. She had a totally negative CT scan in 11/04. On her last visit in UAB Birmingham the doctor thought he felt something around her bladder on rectal exam. He subsequently ordered a CT with contrast. We received the results today and he states the CT shows a 3 x 8 cm area in the pelvic area. He wants her back in Birmingham in a few days with the CT films for him to view. He says she may have resection surgery on Tuesday. What could this be? Anyone have any similar experiences? He did tell her, she is healthy and he doesn't expect her to have any problems. (whatever that is worth).. From a daughter who loves her mom

Hello

Thanks for posting. This could be local recurrence of her cancer. As she had positive washes, she could still have some cells in her abdominal cavity. But I am sure the physicians will want to perform some more tests to figure out what this is.

best regards,
Leo
