Please help me!! What should I do next??

Ok, where to start? In April of 2004 I got pretty bad pneumonia and got enlarged lymph glands in my chest and neck. I was put on antibiotic and finally recovered from the pneumonia. I am only 19 and have been dealing with pneumonia annually since I've been 15.

Anyway, this time about 4 months after the pneumonia cleared up I noticed one of my lymph nodes in the right side of my neck was swollen. It didn't hurt and it started about the size of a dime. I didn't say anything and 3 months later it grew to 1.5 X 1.2 mm (according to my doctor). I was sent for an MRI with this dye to see what came up. When I got the report back it said nothing abnormal was found. I can still feel this lymph node and it is driving me crazy. My doctor said nodes can stay swollen up to a year with pneumonia. Well it's been more than a year.

I also am extremely tired most of the time, and have iron deficincy anemia. Every now and then I get terrible night sweats that wake me up drenched. I have lost weight, but I have been trying to, so I am not concerned about that. My doctor doesn't seem to think that this was a big deal. Maybe I am getting myself worked up, but what should I do next? I haven't seen my DR. in about 4 or 5 months concerning this issue. Should I pursue this further, or just let it go? I got a WBC and that came back pretty normal (my WBC was slightly elevated). Should I request something more be done?

Hello

I think you should see your physician. Please do report about your night sweats and weight loss. Your persistent lymphnode could be lymphoma, but only a physician that evaluates you can decide what next. If you were my patient, I would proceed with investigation.

I had swollen lymph nodes on the right side of neck. The more I play with it, the bigger it got. As i recall, I was sick for a year. Mild sickness like cough, fever, tireness,...etc that would come and go every few months 9 that was a sign that my immune sys is down)

Then more symptoms showed, swollen ankle, weak knees, viral fever for like 10 days with cold sweats.... I did many tests, and only the biopsy could confirmed the disease... maybe u want to opt for that, even tho - it might not tell all - I had 2 biopsies to confirm the disease, the 1st one says ok - I knew of someone who had 5, to confirm lymphoma.

IF lymphoma??? it is v treatable..... it is the safest of all types of cancer. ....
