| The doctor recommended a chemo therapy of Flurouracil (5FU), Oxaliplatin and Leucovorin. Apparently, this a continuous infusion for 48 hours. Anyone have any information or a similar experience. My husband and I are in the decision making process now. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. |

Yes, I do that same treatment. I was on a very aggressive treatment pre operatively and that is what I do post op. Not bad in comparison. Those are the standard chemo drugs used. I took a pill as well. The pump sucks because I have a port in my chest and can't sleep on my stomach, but I guess the benefit of getting better is supposed to out weigh that....
Good luck |

Hello
Flurouracil and leucovorin have been used for a long time, and oncologists are very comfortable using these drugs. The pump part is not the most comfortable, but there are studies that have shown that infusing it continuously is better than giving less frequent doses.

Going back to oxaliplatin, my first chemo. Means no ice cream. I am also going to start a new regime by a veterinarian. His theory makes the most sense to me. you can find out about Dr. Al Plechner's theory on stopmycancer.com
I'll post messages when I have new info to impart.
I am hoping the acupuncture will help the nausea. Ugh. |

Hello
I wouldn't advise anyone to have treatment prescribed by a veterinary doctor. His research is not published in the medical literature, so no conclusions can be made.

I am on same treatment with addition of Avastin. Have your MD check into Avastin: Description
Avastin is a recombinant humanized antibody to Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). Avastin is designed to bind to and inhibit VEGF, a protein that plays a critical role in tumor angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels to the tumor). There are some risks with the Avastin.
My Folfox (5-FU, etc) is administered thru IV on one day then thru IV and a pump for 48 hours. I found pump easy to deal with. Success to us all. |
