I had a Cone biopsy 3 days ago and am supposed to get the results today. My pap and colposcopy with biopsy both came back with mild dysplasia-CIN 1. But my doctor wanted to do the cone because I had abnormal cells in my endocervical canal. Has anyone had a cone with mild dysplasia or heard of it? Also, what are the chances that these results will come back as cancer when both my other procedures came back as mild? I'm so nervous. My last years pap was normal. I have HPV high and low risk. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hi Crystal, I have not had the cone biopsy. A little over a yr ago, they said I had HPV/mild dysplasia. I went every 6 months for a colpo and each time(3) had a regular biopsy. The last biopsy came back moderate dysplasia and I have an appointment set for next month for a LEEP procedure which I hear is not that bad, just cramping afterwards and discharge for about a week. Did you get your results? If you want to email me, noidwoman@yahoo.com.

Yes, I did finally get my results Friday. I had the surgery on Tuesday, and my results came back mild dysplasia-CIN 1. I was so relieved, because there may have been a chance of a hidden carcinoma in my endocervical canal. The reason my doctor wanted to do the Cone was because she wanted to make sure that she could get it all and have clear margins so that I wouldn't have to go in to repeat procedures. I am so relieved. I was very worried for those few days. Even though the cone procedure is one of those most invasive procedures, the recovery was really nothing. Just some cramping and bleeding. The LEEP is more common and much less invasive. It sounds like your dysplasia is more confined to the surface of the cervix. That's good. I think the procedure will be quick and the recovery will be no big deal. Thanks for the reply to my post. I am feeling very relieved this weekend. Now that I know I have HPV, I must make sure to go in for repeat paps more often, etc. Good luck with your procedure and let me know if you want to talk anytime- CrystalM1111@gmail.com
