this is a follow up to original post-I'm 57 healthy, always low psa-2 wk before biopsy .15-upon dre my doc referred me to urol-urol did ultrasound and biopsy-I have absolutely no symptoms-yesterday went in for results(you all know what waiting is like)-12 samples all neg-urol said he would have bet it was cancer-says not PIN-not sure what it is-I might have had urinary infection a zillion years ago and this might explain-I think I recall being treated for urin infect a zillion yrs ago-I am do back 3 mo further testing-urol says must monitor closely-I am not looking forward to spending the rest of my life going in twice a yr and having that howitzer shoved up my butt-I am thrilled with biopsy results but anxious as to what is going on inside that little walnut-any advise, guidance or direction would greatly be appreciated
Thanks,Joe[/b]

Joe,

While I agree that having that "howitzer" shoved up my butt is not my idea of a good time either, I have to say that if that's the worst thing you have to deal with in your life then you've got it pretty good. That "howitzer" could very well save your life and you should be grateful the technology exists.

Joe

I am glad your results are ok. It's really better to follow your doctors recommendation, and know that you'll be fine.

best regards,
Leo

I had an annual biopsy for several years also....high PSA and a family history. Knowing I'll never have that again is a relief, but I'd also say that it's not as bad as the surgery, and certainly the after effects aren't as difficult.

I would suggest you consider 24 samples the next time......even though it isn't any additional fun. I had cancer in in only two of the 24.....so obviously it could have been missed with only 12. So don't worry about having to do it the rest of your life.....if it is cancer it will come, but the longer you get to wait, the longer you should enjoy what you've got. And the longer they have to get better at the procedure.

Hi Joe,

Count your lucky stars, and follow your Dr's. advise. I suspect if you stay clean after a couple of check ups he will change the frequency. Better the Dr. act aggressivley early rather finding out later when options maybe limited.
