my daughter was born with a round darkpurple/black spot on the top of her foot which her doctor reffered to as a nevus,non-neoplastic. recently i discovered an almost identical spot on the top of her other foot, however this spot is not as dark as the other,it is the exact size, and the same position as the one she was born with.Is this a coincidence? she also says the latter hurts when touched, the both feel flat and smooth. should i be comcerned about this?

Hello

Not having seen your child it is hard to say what it is. But a common thing with newborns are hemangiomas, which really are these large dark areas. Most of them go away with time. But this is just a possibility. You should take her to be examined by a Dr.

regards,
Leo

Take your child to a pdiatrician or pediatric surgeon. According to your discription its looking like more of nevus, a benign entity. But you will have to confirm it & keep a close watch over it.

It probably is a nevus. Skin disorders are to be examined and no diagnosis can be made without having a clear look at the lesion.

Lesions cannot be explained easily. So its best to be examined by a doctor preferably a skin specialist.
