I just recently got over the flu but was experiencing chest pains with no temp. or any other signs of being sick. I went to the doctor and she performed chest x-rays and discovered that I had some bacteria in my right lung.....probably walking pneumonia...she prescribed the necessary antibiotics; however there was something else there....and dime to nickel sized spot....which she said couldn't have been caused by pneumonia or bronchitis. After two sets of x-rays and blood work, she's decided to send me to a pulmonary specialist. I'm absolutely terrified. There's no information what so ever about lung cancer in women who are in there 20's. My great aunt died last year of from lung cancer and my son had a severe respiratory infection when he was born. I've smoked for the past couple of years, but I wouldn't think long enough to get lung cancer.

I may be jumping ahead of myself, but what else could this spot be?

You may also want to send this message to lchelp.com and www.acor.org (and register there for non-small cell lung cancer). They are both very active message boards and you will get a lot of useful information.
