Worried sick

Well my dad has a bad chesty cough and he is wheezing a lot. He thinks its just a cold/flu. He told me that he has had pneumonia before. I think it might be it again but alot worse. He smokes heavily and used to drink heavily but has stopped drinking (or so we are led to believe)

Im only 14 and my dads 43. Im worried sick for him

I need to know whether it is or not.

My grandpa, died 4 months ago from lung and liver cancer while my nana died in 1992 with bowel cancer and my other grandad died of a heart attack.

Hey H.....

Sounds to me like you need some help talking with your Dad. You need to be able to tell him what you are feeling and what you fear "may" be happening to him. Don't scold or nag him though. He already knows smoking isn't a good thing, he doesn't have it him yet to quit.
What he needs to hear is how worried and anxious you are, then tell him why you don't want to lose him. Tell him you love him. If you can't find the words to express yourself, maybe try writing it down in a letter.
Don't let your hate of cancer take control of your emotions....unfortunately it's a part of life nowadays. What you could try is to express to your Dad what you fear the most, then what you think could help your Dad to check things out. Offer to go to the Doctor's office with him?
I know, sounds easy coming from a stranger, especially when I know nothing about your life and your relationship with your Dad. But, you do, you know what kind of life you have with your Dad, and you also know what kind of life you want to have with your Dad....tell him.
