I am 38 year old female with history of BC in family.. mom deceased from it, maternal aunt and 42 year old sister.
I just had an mri and a mri guided biopsy was recommended due to"a clumped focus within a segmental area which shows persistent enhanced curves".. My surgeon said that that description described in my mri report is usually indicitive of dcis and said I should go and check on line about breast mri's.. .
Does anyone know a web site where I can find a description of dcis picked up by an mri. Mentally I am setting myself up for a double mastectomy as the risk in my family is too great.. I am high risk and I have 3 young children.. 8 months and 20 months and 8 years.. and I cant bear to be in fear every 6 months..
Thanks and good luck to all

Hello

I am not sure what your doctor mentioned about going on-line and checking about an MRI. I think he is the one that should be looking for this information and helping you with this. If he has doubts he should contact the radiologist and see if it fits or not. I think that doctors have to be proactive and look for answers as they try to serve as counsellors. That is why you sought his expertise, right ?

I am not a radiologist, so I can not comment on what a typical DCIS looks like by MRI.

regards,
Leo

That is a good website and I too put it in my favorite places.
I had my surgical onco 6 month visit yesterday (mamo last week) and he is setting me up on yearly MRI's because of the severe denseness of my breast. I did have an MRI last May but they still seem to be watching a spot on my "good" breast. So this website is really good at explaining all about MRI's.
