I recently had radical prostrate surgery which went well. Unfortunately about a week out I developed a severe pain only when walking which has been diagnosed as an inflamation of the spermatic cord by cat scan. The pain is just to the right of the penis in the groin on the right side. Testicles while large do not hurt. I am able to walk without pain by putting pressure on the area of inflamation. I am being treated with antibiotics and anti inflamatories for the last ten days with no change at all. I receive relief when laying or sitting down. It is not an infection as I feel fine with no fever. Unfortunately having mobility reduced to walking around the living room is frustratiing to say the least. The next plan by Docs is to have MRI to verify cat scan diagnosis. They still seem to feel that time will see cure but I am skeptical as no change has been seen at all in last ten days. Has anyone else been faced with this condition after surgery?

Since this complication is rare I will post my own results. For some reason about two weeks into this dibillating complication [it began two weeks after the surgery] I woke up and the pain was gone. It was surprising as for that two weeks there had been absolutely no improvement and 800mg of Motrin every 6 hours had done nothing but give me swollen ankles and talks of pain clinics were coming from the docs.
Apparently, possibly due to lymph node removal there was fluid build up that took time to be absorbed. The pressure of this fluid must stretch the spermatic cord and that causes the pain. It was a mechanical type pain so motrin was not going to do it. When the body has adjusted to absorb enough of the fluid the cord is no longer stretched when walking the pain just dissapears. As Martha Stewart would say "That is a good thing".I am glad this type thing is the exception rather than the rule.
