My wife has cancer behind the nose under the skull base and went through radiation and chemotherapy and the cancer was cured . However, there is a lot of phlegm around the neck and is very very hard to cough out. At time one piece of hard phlegm came out, then within minute another piece will replace the same location , my wife can feel it the phlegm came back.

Can some one help her ! please, it is so hard on her to sleep, to eat and has minute of peace in mind.

Hello

I understand it can be very hard to go through this type of therapy. There are not many things to reduce the amount of secretions other than the tissues themselves heal. Before this, I think the best options for people in this situation are to rinse with mouthwashes and try to keep the area clean.

best regards,
Dr Leo

hi Dr. Leo

Thank you for reply. My wife's phlegm is not in her throat or nasopharynx. The phlegm is outside the airway and throat, it seem to be in between the glands. Can it be the radiation damaged a lymph note or the saliva gland that the dead gland trying to come out from the system? whenever she rinse her mouth, it seem the water get into the glands and she feel congested around the throat. Any possible surgery to collect this problems. Her problems seem getting worse as time passed.
thank you
sam
