My mother experiences a severe back pain, for weeks now. She has a very small tumor at her left lung (2cm diameter) and many more small tumors at her liver. Nothing at her spine.

So where does this pain come from? I don't understand. Most of the time she can not keep her back straight. The pain killers help a bit, bit this is still a mystery to me. Doctors say that the pain could be a chemo side effect, or that the cancer is spreading at her spinal column but it is too early to detect it.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks,
Mandy

Your medical team is right in that cancer can spread to bones and be causing the pain. What kind of evaluation has been done - MRI or bone scan? If the pain is getting worse, further evaluation could be warrented. Sometimes the cancer can spread to involve nerves which can be very painful for patients. Work with your medical team to discover the cause, as if one is found there can be treatment options.
