My husband had a pleura effussion and a perricardial effussion and to stop the fluid they sealed it with talc. He has malignant tumers on his heart that have spread from the lung. Has anyone had experience with talc.

Talc is a common substance used to prevent effusions from forming again. It causes fibrosis to occurs between two layers that essentially causes a sealing of a potential space that would otherwise fill with fluid. Imagine a deflated balloon, it can easily be filled with water, but if you first pour glue in it, let it dry and then try to fill it with water, it doesn't.
