Is it just a myth that stress is not good for cancer? I always thought stress was a negative for most illnesses.

I always felt too much stress could cause cancer to re-appear. I realize now that I never really officially read that anywhere. The question is being asked because of my husband. I just want to know as we are going thru some difficulty at the time. Thanks

To all that are currently new to this disease, or in the middle of it, just hang in there and try to take one day at a time. It can be so overwhelming. This is a great place for comfort if nothng more.

Hi - there is an enormous amount of debate about this. There are scientific studies which show stress is a factor, and an almost equal number showing it is not a factor. I suspect that it all depends on the individual and the type of stress. Some people seem able to withstand enormous emotional and physical stress, while others collapse quickly.

Personally, I believe stress was a factor in the development of my cancer, and is still a factor in its changing state.

Stress is a normal part of life and can be caused by any change in live or health (negative or positive). You might take a look at http://www.healpastlives.com/future/cure/scale.htm for the The Holmes-Rahe Social Readjustment Ratings Scale that is often used to assess the level of an individual's stress factors and the probability of having a major health problem.
