Hi there I'm a 16 year old male and about 6 months ago I found that my superficial cervical lymph node on my right side was swollen, It is about 2cm long and 1.3cm in diametre, it feels like it's stuck down but I can move my skin over it easily also it is slighlty 'fatter' at one end and in this end it's hard whereas the 'thinner' part of it is not as hard. I waited about 2 months before visiting the Doctor as it didn't go down, he gave me anti-bitotics and said "it's nothing to be concerned about" The anti-bitotics never worked, and the node was still there. So 4 months when by with me poking at it constantly seeing if there was any change, I (foolishly) checked the internet for information and now I'm terrified because the charactaristics of my lymph node are ones that "Are much more likley to be cancerous" Anyway I went back to the Doctor and explained It was still there, he was a little suprised that it was still there and sent be for a blood test. A week of sleepless nights went by and I got the results - they we're clear and I was told "No action is required" It felt like a ton bricks had just been lifted off me. But now 2 weeks later I get a letter in the post asking me to see an E.N.T so obviously I have it in my head something is seriously wrong if at one point they say no action is needed then a couple of weeks later I've to go see an E.N.T. I've read as many things I can about Lymphoma and some pages so Hodgkin's Lymphoma lymph nodes should be mobile and be able to move around. Anyway I have the E.N.T appointment in 5 days.

Thanks to anyone who has read this far I really apprechiate it.
Also I would like to say a massive Thank You! to the staff on this website.

MrBojangles, I am very sorry about your current health concerns. So many things can cause an enlarged lymph node... most often it is an infection. That is why you need to see an ENT. Keep working with your medical team to find out what is causing this to happen to you.

Best wishes.

Hello

Enlarged lymph glands are very common, lymphoma is not. As Brainman said its probable that it is nothing, but just in case you need to get it checked out.
Don't worry too much it is probably nothing.

Cheers and good luck Smile

Hi people sorry for not replying sooner.
I saw the E.N.T doctor last week and he spent a good 10-15 minutes examining the area. He said that since it's been the same size and has had the same charactaristics for 6 months without change that he isn't concenred about it. He also said that it feels like a healthy node that has flared up from something as little as tick bite.

He didin't want to do anything further than that visit, but told me to go back if it starts getting bigger.

Again I would just like to say thanks to everyone who replied and I wish you all the best for the future.
