I just returned from a two week visit with Mom. Her health is rapidly declining since her diagnosis just 7 weeks ago. She wasn't strong enough to continue her radiation and we all decided against chemo. Hospice was called last month and they are angels...every one of them! On the 5th day of my visit, Mom opened her eyes and said my name!!! I had been talking and reading to her since my arrival, but it was nice to confirm that she knew I was there. I helped my brother make all of the necessary arrangements.
While no one knows how much time we have on earth, the Hospice nurses seem to think that it's a matter of weeks now. Mom isn't in any pain and sleeps most of the day. I pray that her passing will be peaceful for her.

Cindy,

I'm sure sorry to hear that your Mom is declining but glad you were able to spend meaningful time with her. Opening her eyes and saying your name will stay in your heart forever.

Be well and take care of yourself. I know how emotionally devastating this time is for you and your family.

Hi Cindy. I too am sorry to hear of your mom's decline. She sounds like the way my mom was. If it is any comfort to you, my mom passed away without any pain and I'm sure your mom's passing will be as peaceful, Hospice will ensure it. You are right, they are angels and they are a God send to the loved ones and their families. I don't know what I would have done without them on board for my mom.
