Hello Peg
Welcome to the forum. I'm so saddened to hear about yr Mother's LC diagnosis. She sounds like an amazingly strong person with her positive attitude & comments. If I were her I would be wanting to battle on, she is such a young age really.
Surely whilstever the Dr is offering further treatment optiions these avenues should be pursued? I'm assuming yr Mother must have tolerated treatment fairly well so far (you haven't stated otherwise)?
I hope you will receive support & information from a more knowledgeable person on this thread, who could perhaps shed more light on your question.
Cheers, Aussie Angie. _________________ Brother diagnosed with GBMIV Feb 07

update on my mother.. im writing this to give alot of people some hope.. in my previous post my mother had returned to the original treatment of chemo as the second line treatment was not working.. well 3 weeks ago she finished the 4th cycle of the treatment and a scan was done.. now the docs gave her no chance really of improving the outcome but she said if there was a chance she had to pursue it.. we met the doc last week and he was shocked to find no evidence of the cancer in her body, she reacted well to treatment and we are still in shock to find her so well. they did say that it could return but from no chance to no cancer we will enjoy this moment and try to keep the positvity goin.. i hope some people can get hope from my post as in desperate times i turned to the forum to guide us. i cant stress enuf the poor prognosis the doc gave my mother and to see her now is nothing short of a miracle.
without hope we have nothing |

Peg!!
Oh -- what joyous news! Thank you so much for sharing this badly needed inspirational post. You are right -- extensive SCLC is a very grim diagnosis and there are far fewer treatment options than for NSCLC.
This is truly a miracle and I'm so happy in my heart to know this. Although I've lost my husband to NSCLC and my friend to ED-SCLC, I want so badly to see people winning the battle.
Thanks again for giving hope to all who come here. Where there is life, there is hope was how I always approached cancer. Congratulations!!
God bless,
