hi guys, I have been reading your posts for about a week now and finally registered to post. I had a mole on my right thigh that appeared about 5 months ago, it started out very small bot in five months increased to about a quarter of an inch, it was dark brown, regular in shape, did not itch or ooze, it just kept getting bigger, I looked at the pictures of cancerous moles on the internet and it diid not fit or look like any of the pictues. Anywhere I got scared after reading some of your post and went to a dermatologist on monday. He looked at my mole and told me he did not think that it was anything but a mole and did not seemed too concerned. He also looked at the other moles on my body and found one on my back that he said looked suspicious. To make a long story short he removed both of them and sent them off to be biopsied, that was monday, I have not heard anything yet and have an appointment to go back in 2 weeks. My question is, do they call you sooner if there is anything wrong. I have been worried to death about this. In my youth I did spend a lot of time in the sun, I have more of an olive skin complexion and really did not burn alot, but remember a few times that I did. I am 57 years old and otherwise in pretty good health, I have no other synptoms and I do not feel that any of my glands are enlaged, just wanted to get some of your input on this, thanks

Hi featherstone641. I am very sorry about your health concerns. I do hope that it is not a melanoma. Usually, they only call earlier if it is a life-or-death situation that needs urgent attention. More often than not, this is not the case and we have to wait.

Keep us informed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

well its been over a week now and I did not receive a call yet, guess I will just have to wait for my appointment on monday to find the results. When to my regular doc yesterday who referred me to the dermatologist, he tried to get my results for me but was unsuccessful he left a message maybe if he finds out, he will call me later today. I will keep you posted, hope I get an answer soon as this is really stressing me out and good or bad, I really need to know so I can get on with my life and stop obsessing over this.

I'm sure if it was serious, they would have the results back to you ASAP. I would rest easy and try to get the info you want, but know you will have the answer come Monday. Hopefully it is nothing serious, I'll say a wish for you. Very Happy

I understand your frustration. We ran into the same exact thing during my husbands ordeal with Melanoma. It seemed like everyone just moved in slow motion! It took two weeks after his initial shave biopsy to get the results. Then we had to wait two weeks to get into the next doctor we were refered to. Then we had to wait two more weeks before he had his first surgery (Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy)....then we had to wait THREE agonizing weeks for the results of that....and so on...it was aways 1-3 weeks between each visit for us. In the meantime we were so so upset.

In the end, over the course of 5 months, two surgerys and 19 doctor visits total, I am happy to report he is NED (no evidence of disease).

Try and hang in there!!!

hi, got my pathology results back, looks like I am fine, it says benign nevus cells are at the epidural junction and the dermis, some junctional and upper dermal nevus cells show large nevus cells, diagnosis: compound nevus with foot of atypia. The dermatologist wanted to remove more of the large mole on my back, but I declined at this point. Thanks to everyone who replied to me, I was very nervous these last 2 weeks, but I guess all is well and I can get on with my life, thanks
