Hi my stepfather has been diagnosed with MDS, possibly refractory anaemia and my mum is wanting to know what to expect and what she shld watch out for to prevent him becoming to ill, too fast.
Anybodies experiences and input welcome.

heavensdj, I am very sorry about your stepfather's health concerns. I am not 100% certain but the last thing I remember hearing about refractory MDS is that there really is not a good treatment for it. There are ways to treat the symptoms (the anaemia).

The things to watch out for are fevers which might indicate that the MDS has changed into full blown leukemia.

Hopefully, someone else will be more up-to-date on the subject and be able to help you more.

Your stepfather is in my thoughts and prayers.
