hello, I'm Marie-Dominique, from France, and my cancer was found 1 year ago, when I was 41. I had already a stage 4 cancer, and the chemos I had with 5FU and Avastin had to be stopped because I couldn't stand them at all : loss of memory (I didn't recognize my own children) and suppression of imunity ... I was operated on the colon tumor but my liver is badly infected. A lot of bad news but now I feel better: I started a new chemo which seems fine: it's called Erbitux , that's what they try when the first chemo with 5FU and Avastin doesn't work. WHat's weird is the impression I've got that I'm not sick, do you feel the same? A bit tired, but that's all, so I can still enjoy life.
Gook luck to you all. |

As a Stage IV colon cancer with mets to the liver survivor, I never felt sick. The docs all said that was good, because then they could throw a lot of drugs at me.
Before, during and after chemo I had great blood. I'm rarely ever sick and have not taken a sick day since I came back to work. |

The 5FU and Avastin was tough on me at first. I got really sick after the first treatment, but it did get better. I still felt like crud after each treatment, but it was manageable. It stated getting bad towards the end, but I was almost done, so that helped get me through.
I didn't experience memory loss, at least not enough to effect my daily functioning.
For me, all the sickness I felt was from chemo, not cancer. _________________ 10/01/07 - Removal of Stage III Colon Cancer Tumor and Temporary Colostomy
